Pokemon Gold and Silver, the 2nd installment of the hand held Pokemon games brought us to Johto, and Introduced many new pokemon, as well as a couple new types. Some new features include:

- Night / Day: Night and Day were introduced. Different pokemon were obtainable at night.
- Dark / Steel: New types were introduced, dark and steel.
- Items: Pokemon were now able to hold items.
