Default | Fire | Psychic | Dirt | Dark ..:: Effort Values ::..What are Effort Values?
Effort Values, or EVs, are basically "points" given to you after you battle a Pokemon. Each Pokemon gives a certain amount of EVs for a stat. 4 EVs in one stat will raise the stat by 1 point. For instance, if a pokemon fought 4 Zubat (which give you 1 Speed EV each), then that Pokemon's speed would increase by 1 stat point. Each stat can have 252 EVs Max, and a Pokemon cannot have more than 508 EVs at one time. Will my Pokemon's stats increase instantly?
No. If you fight 60 Zubats for 60 Speed EVs, and your Pokemon levels up, you won't automatically gain 15 Speed Stat points. The Stats will increase gradually, not instantly. Wait a minute, how am i gonna keep track of all these EVs?
An easy way to keep track of EVs in DP, is to use the counting Poketech App. Each time you beat a pokemon, put the number of EVs gained into the counter. If EVing in RSE, you're gonna have to write it on paper, or maybe a word document. .::+ EV Training Tips & Tricks +::.
EV Training may seem like it takes a long time, and it can, but if you use the following tricks, your EV-ing time can be cut in half or more!
Items useful in EV Training Power Items (DP): Power Items are items that affect the amount of EVs you recieve for a certain stat. It will add 4 extra EVs to a stat for every pokemon you fight. Power Weight: Adds 4 extra EVs to HP. Power Wrist: Adds 4 extra EVs to Attack. Power Belt: Adds 4 extra EVs to Defense. Power Lens: Adds 4 extra EVs to Special Attack. Power Band: Adds 4 extra EVs to Special Defense. Power Ankle: Adds 4 extra EVs to Speed. Macho Brace: Doubles the amount of EVs recieved. Vitamins: Vitamins, such as Carbos and Iron, add 10 EVs when used. A pokemon can only have 10 or each Vitamin, equaling 100 EVs to a stat. EV Reducing Berries: The exact opposite of Vitamins, there are certain berries that take away 10 EVs from a certain stat. the berries are: Pomeg Berry: -10 HP EVs Kelpsy Berry: -10 Attack EVs Qualot Berry: -10 Defense EVs Hondew Berry: -10 Sp. Attack EVs Grepa Berry: -10 Sp. Defense EVs Tamato Berry: -10 Speed EVs Pokerus: Not an item, but very useful in EV training. it doubles the amount of EVs recieved. Check out our Pokerus Guide to learn more. .::+ Good places to EV Train +::.
