..:: Pokemon Tiers ::..

In competitive Pokemon battling, there are tiers, basically a way of balancing all the Pokemon, and making the metagame more organized. Pokemon are put in a specific tier based on the amount of use they get, and their amount of usefulness. The tiers that Pokemon are classed into are the following:

Uber:
The strongest of all Pokemon, Ubers are simply to strong to be able to compete fairly with all the other Pokemon. Therefore, they are not allowed in any other tier except their own. All Pokemon are allowed in this tier.

Overused (OU):
Overused is the most commonly used tier. It consists of the commonly used Pokemon such as Blissey, Tyranitar, cresselia, etc. This tier is also commonly reffered to as "Standard".

Borderline (BL):
Borderline Pokemon are too strong to be placed in the Underused enviornment, yet not strong enough to compete in the Overused metagame. Because of this, they get their own tier.

Underused (UU):
The Pokemon in this tier are the less used ones, such as Granbull, Banette, etc. Basically, these Pokemon are weaker than the standards, due to either their stats or movepool. It may also be because something totally outclasses them. This tier is fun to battle in, because often times, your favorite Pokemon is underused. :3

Neverused (NU):
These Pokemon.... simply are not used outside of their metagame. At all. This is where Pokemon like Wormadam get stuck. They just don't stand a chance in the standard metagame.

These are the different tiers for the different generations of games. (GSC and RBY will be up soon!).

- Diamond & Pearl Tiers: The most recent, metagame, and the most played.

- Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Tiers: Not played as much anymore, but this is here if you want to play in this metagame. :)
