Experienced Competitive Pokemon battlers often use words and abbreviations such as "Lefties", and "LO". This "Dictionary" should help the newer players understand these terms.

Stat Abbreviations:

HP: Hit Points.
Atk: Attack
Def: Defense
SAtk, Sp.Atk: Special Attack
SDef, Sp.Def: Special Defense
Spd, Spe: Speed.

General Abbreviations:

STAB- Same Type Attacking Bonus. If the pokemon is of the same type as the move it is using, the move's power is multiplied by 1.5.

OHKO- One Hit Knock Out.
2KO- 2 Hit Knock Out.

SE- Super Effective.
NVE- Not Very Efective.

OU, UU, NU- Overused, underused, neverused.

Pokemon Abbreviations

Chomp / Landhsark: Garchomp
Hera: Heracross
Mence: Salamence
Elf: Azelf
porryZ: PorygonZ
Gar: Gengar
Skarm:: Skarmory
Bliss: Blissey
SkarmBliss: The defensive combo of Skarmory & Blissey.
Tar: Tyranitar
Gross: Metagross
Pert: Swampert
Lax: Snorlax
Rhy: Rhyperior

etc. Usually, if someone is abbreviating a pokemon, they just take half of it's name out.
